Using Adobe Illustrator to create my design + engravings

Opening my file on the computer, adjusting the printing preferences, and cutting
My first laser cut bread tag.

Turned out super cool and satisfying to watch!

Though I didn’t intend to cut out the date + lettering on the lower left… I hoped to engrave but I think I forgot to adjust it to have no stroke.

Laser cutting my smaller bread tags out of the 6x12 piece

These were out of a thicker piece of acrylic(1/4”) and it took me three runs to get the laser to cut all the way through. I made the mistake of pulling the acrylic out of the bed which ran the risk of displacing it.
Cutting out the side and base pieces for the larger bread tag, planning to make it a mounted paper file holder.

In the print preferences I didn’t know to adjust the projected position of the material(I positioned my acrylic in the top left corner, but the computer display had it in the middle of the bed). It started to cut in the middle of the acrylic until I paused it and repositioned it.
I also found that some of the cuts stopped about a cm from the edge of the plastic, not breaking off all the way. I tried snapping it myself but chipped some corners. I sawed a piece with some excess.
Went back to Canal Plastics to get acrylic solvent to put it all together!

Accidentally glued the back piece first the wrong way but it still worked.

You can also see glue around the seams which is something I want to be more precise with the next time around.

Overall, a super satisfying and fun project! The laser cutter is definitely my new favorite machine.
